Is my LinkedIn account at risk?

Six questions on what actually triggers a restriction, and what to fix first.

1. How many invitations do you send per day?
2. How long has your account been active?
3. What is your acceptance rate?
4. How many pending invitations do you have?
5. Where does your tool send from?
6. What does your tool do when LinkedIn refuses a send?

Answer the questions to get your score.

LinkedIn does not detect tools, it detects behaviour. Six signals explain almost every restriction, and three of them have nothing to do with the software you use.

Nothing is sent anywhere, everything runs in your browser.

How it works

  1. 1Answer the six questions honestly, even the uncomfortable ones.
  2. 2Read your score and the level it falls into.
  3. 3Work through the fixes in the order they appear.
  4. 4Redo the test in two weeks to see the score move.

Frequently asked questions

What actually gets a LinkedIn account restricted?

Not the tool. The behaviour: daily volume above what the account is used to, a collapsing acceptance rate, a large stock of pending invitations, insisting after a first refusal, and a session used from two places at once. The last one mostly affects cloud tools.

How many invitations a day is safe?

Twenty for an established account. Five a day for the first week on a new account, then a ramp over three weeks. LinkedIn also has a weekly ceiling, somewhere between 100 and 200 depending on the account.

My account is already restricted, what do I do?

Stop every send, including your extension. Cancel pending invitations older than three weeks. Use LinkedIn normally for a week. Then restart at five a day. Never restart at the previous volume.
