AI setter: the AI that replies to your LinkedIn prospects and books your meetings
Updated October 24, 2026
Makelead's AI setter takes over as soon as a prospect replies to your LinkedIn campaign. It replies for you, in the right language and tone, works out what they need, then offers your booking link when the conversation gets there. When the prospect books, the meeting is marked as booked and you get an email. The AI setter is included in the Growth and Business plans.
Definition
- AI setter
- An AI setter is an AI assistant that handles conversations with your prospects in place of a human setter: it replies to their messages, qualifies their needs and takes them all the way to a booked meeting.
- In sales, the setter opens and qualifies conversations, then hands over to the closer, who closes the deal. The AI setter does that first job across all your conversations at once, without you at your screen, and keeps for you the exchanges that need your judgment.
What does Makelead's AI setter do?
It replies to every prospect who wrote to you, the way you would, and moves the conversation toward a meeting.
- It replies under your name, in the first person, in French or English depending on the prospect, and keeps the level of formality already set. If your account and your campaigns are in English, it always replies in English.
- It focuses on the prospect first: their business, what they are looking for, what is holding them back, and it asks a question that moves the conversation forward.
- It answers their questions based on the offer you described, and only on it.
- It offers your goal and your booking link when the prospect asks for it, or when their need is clear and they show interest.
- When the prospect hesitates or says “not now”, it can send your intro video, once.
- It spots when the prospect confirms a time slot, marks the meeting as booked and lets you know by email.
- It hands over to you as soon as a question goes beyond your offer, with an email alert and an “action required” card in your inbox.
How does the AI setter take a prospect all the way to a meeting?
Through a real conversation first, then a natural close: it does not drop a link in the first message.
The setter starts by understanding the prospect and answering what they ask. It offers your goal, such as a discovery call, when the prospect asks for it themselves (a meeting, a price, how setup works) or when their need is clear and they reply with interest.
Once your link is sent, it does not send it again unless asked. When the prospect writes that they booked, for example “done, Thursday at 2pm”, the setter confirms in one sentence, closes the conversation, and the meeting shows up as booked in your dashboard.
Without a booking link, the setter offers your goal in its own words and lets the prospect pick a time, which it records the same way.
When does the AI setter hand the conversation back to you?
As soon as a reply needs your judgment: it would rather leave you the conversation than improvise.
- a question your offer does not answer: a custom price, a very specific request, a partnership proposal;
- a counter-offer, for example a project instead of a purchase;
- a question about pay when you are looking for a job;
- a prospect asking whether they are talking to an AI;
- a conversation that has not led anywhere after eight exchanges.
You get an email and the conversation turns red in your inbox. As soon as you reply yourself, the setter steps back from that conversation.
Can the AI setter make things up?
No. It relies only on the offer you described, and any question beyond it comes back to you.
This is its strictest rule: no price, timeline or feature that is not in your offer, and no link other than your booking link and your video. Every message goes through automatic checks before it is sent, and a message that fails them is rewritten.
How many conversations can the AI setter handle?
Up to 100 replies a day for your account, across all conversations.
It only replies to people who wrote to you, at the hours you would be online, and your invitations stay capped at 200 over a rolling 7 days. Your LinkedIn account keeps a human pace.
Is the AI setter only for selling?
No. It works out the situation from what you describe: sales, partnerships, hiring or a job search.
For a job search, your offer is your profile (the role you want, your experience, what you are looking for) and your goal is an interview. The setter answers recruiters about your background and leaves salary questions to you.
How to turn on the AI setter
Five minutes is enough, inside a LinkedIn campaign.
- Open a LinkedIn campaign
In your dashboard, create or open a campaign and add the AI setter step.
- Describe your offer
A few sentences, 100 characters at least: what you offer, who it is for, what sets you apart. It is the setter's only source.
- Set your goal
For example “book a 20-minute discovery call”. That is where the setter steers the conversation.
- Add your link and your video
Your Calendly or Cal.com link, or any other booking page, and an intro video if you want one. Both are optional.
- Launch the campaign
The setter starts as soon as a prospect replies. You track meetings offered and booked from your dashboard.

Frequently asked questions
What is an AI setter?
An AI setter is an AI assistant that replies to prospects in place of a human setter, qualifies their needs and takes them to a booked meeting. Makelead's works on LinkedIn, from the offer you describe.
What is the difference between a setter and a closer?
The setter opens the conversation, qualifies the need and gets the meeting. The closer runs that meeting and closes the sale. Makelead's AI setter does the setter's job and leaves the closer's job to you.
Does the AI setter work with Calendly?
Yes. Paste your Calendly or Cal.com link, or any booking page, and the setter sends it at the right moment. When the prospect confirms their slot in the conversation, the meeting is marked as booked.
Does the prospect know they are talking to an AI?
The setter writes under your name, in the first person, the way you would. If a prospect asks whether they are talking to an AI, the setter does not answer itself: it hands over to you with an alert, so you can reply in person.
Which plan includes the AI setter?
The Growth (€69 a month) and Business (€119 a month) plans, along with prospecting messages written by the AI. Business adds finding your prospects' work email.
Does the AI setter reply in English?
Yes. It replies in the prospect's language, French or English, based on their messages. If your account and your campaigns are in English, it always replies in English.
What happens if the prospect is not interested?
When the prospect ends the exchange, with a clear no or a thank-you, the setter stops and does not write to them again.
Can I read and take over the AI setter's conversations?
Yes. Every conversation is visible in your Makelead inbox, with the setter's messages, and you can take over at any time by replying yourself.
Does the AI setter respect LinkedIn's limits?
Yes. It only replies to people who wrote to you, 100 times a day at most, and your invitations stay capped at 200 over a rolling 7 days, with no setting to raise it.
